Today I repeatedly tried four different phone numbers in an effort to get a human on the phone for Medicaid but either couldn't get the call to go through, couldn't get a human being on the line, got a busy signal, or was disconnected. Classy.

I got a notice today that my Medicaid is being discontinued June 5--my birthday even, yay--because they supposedly didn't receive my recertification form! 1] I mailed that recertification form May 1. This morning sucked. Food Stamps called me for my recertification interview, but with the weather I was very wobbly, in pain, and not thinking well, while the interviewer had an Indian accent so thick I had to ask him to keep repeating himself. I have some good news on the Medicaid-Medicare issue. Medicare still considers me dual eligibility so (so far) my prescription plan change went off without a hitch. I phoned in the change Thursday to be safest. It'll take 10 days (January 1 on) for the new prescription card to arrive so I put in early refills for the meds I could get away with. Nobody and nothing answered the phone at my congressman's office, supervisors and directors weren't in at the Medicaid eligibility phoneline either due to the holidays or the two feet of snow, and my local Medicaid office's phoneline kept me on hold for 30 minutes before telling me to enter only my 10-digit phone number so somebody might someday ( Read more... )
